I am a graduate student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University, expecting to graduate with my PhD in December 2010. My resume is available.

I am conducting research in medical image analysis, particularly on methods for the early diagnosis of lung cancer from computed tomography (CT) scans, in the Vision and Image Analysis Group headed by Professor Reeves. I have also worked on adapting these techniques for use in measuring murine lung tumors from micro-CT scans working with Dr. Robert Weiss at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell.

Prior to coming to Cornell, I graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA. My undergraduate honor's thesis was on a PIC microcontroller-based system for monitoring RC helicopters which integrated data from different sensor units.

Research

My research interests lie in the realm of extracting useful information from medical images. My current projects address several facets of computer aided diagnosis of lung cancer from CT images. One of my projects is developing algorithms to classify suspicious lung lesions as malignant or benign based on features extracted from a single CT scan. Another project deals with the measurement of lung cancer growth rate, with an emphasis on how it can be used to diagnose lung cancer. I am working on applying these methods on murine micro-CT scans. More information about my research can be found on the VIA page.

Interests

My primary interests are anime and technology, ranging from car audio to computers. Sadly, I don't have enough money to fund all my interests :(. You can find a list of anime that I have watched, am watching, or planning to watch at My Anime List. If you have a Samsung A550 TV, you may want to check out my calibration settings at AVSforum in this post or this later post.
